The leadership team of Snake River Karters for the 2015 racing season welcomes you, your family and friends to another exciting and prosperous karting season! We hope that you enjoyed the Holidays with your families and friends and are preparing for the upcoming kart season at Glen Morgan Raceway! As some of you may know, we have hit the ground running and have already started strategic planning for 2015! During the January Board meeting, we defined the Snake River Karters race schedule of 8 club races! in which the Board of Directors voted upon unanimously. Along with a printable copy of our schedule, we have indicated various NW tracks (ones with schedules thus far) within the IKF Region 6. In addition, we have also outlined the NW Gold Cup Race Events. You will see in the attached schedule that all Snake River Karters races are highlighted in yellow for your reference.

As many of you may already know, Snake River Karters will be hosting an IKF GOLD CUP RACE on Memorial Day weekend! This is an exciting opportunity for us to host a Regional IKF Race event on our newly paved asphalt sprint track that will bring competitors from all over the Northwest! We have combined one of our club races (#2) with the Gold Cup event which will provide an event full of competitive racing!

We are looking forward to seeing you, your family and friends at Glen Morgan this year where we’re sure to have another action packed season!

Sincerely,

Ray Smith

There has been some discussion about whether IKF will change any helmet rules for 2014.

The following is from the 2013 IKF rules manual and we have confirmation that the 2014 IKF rules will be the same. The following are the helmet specifications that will still be allowed in 2014.

Per IKF 105.1.6.1 HEAD GEAR: Full coverage (full face) helmets designed for competitive motorsports use are mandatory and must comply with one of the following:

Snell Foundation Specifications Legal Until
2005 SA and M 12/20/2015
2005 K 12/20/2015
CMS 2007 (youth helmet) 12/20/2015
CMR 2007 (youth helmet) 12/20/2015
M 2010 12/20/2020 Go-karts only. Not approved for Champ Karts
SA 2010 12/20/2020 Go-karts and Champ Karts

SFI Specifications Legal Until
24.1/2005 (youth helmet) 12/20/2015
31.1/2005 12/20/2015
41.1/2005 12/20/2015
24.1/2010 (youth helmet) 12/20/2020
31.1/2010 12/20/2020 Go-karts and Champ Karts
41.1/2010 12/20/2020 Go-karts only. Not approved for Champ Karts

The Helmet rating should be on the inside of the helmet, but sometimes is hard to find. Here is a link for searching for Snell ratings for several helmet models.

In the past we have had a few intermittent issues with posting ads. This seems to be working now. Just log in and post anything you want to sell that is kart related. I am watching for ads that need to be published on an almost daily basis and will publish your ad when I see it.

Fund Raiser Projects

Special thanks to Dale Smitchger for donating the proceeds of his sprinkler blow-out project to SRK for track improvements. Many SRK members had Dale blow out their sprinklers and he donated the proceeds to the club. This amounted to $480. Thanks again Dale for your hard work

The idea behind this fund raiser was to utilize a skill that can be offered for sale and donate the profits to the club. We have many talented club members who may have skills they can sell to do other fundraising projects. (e.g. Computer Repair, Auto Mechanic, Seamstress, the list could go on and on…) Something to think about……

Ray Smith shared another fundraiser project with the club members at the last club meeting. This project is still in the planning stage and will be at Fastlanes Indoor Kart Racing so you know it will be fun. More details to come so keep an eye on this website.
