SRK News May 12th
Hello Snake River Karters,
**Larry K. Memorial Date Change**
There has been a change to the Larry K Memorial race due to a conflicting road race schedule. The dates all stay the same, we just moved the Memrial race to the July race. We're trying to plan a pot luck/bbq the Saturday night prior. If you'd like to help out with planning please contact me. It's fun to come out to drop your stuff a night early, bring the camper or just your lawn chair and hang out in Memory of our friend Larry.
4-16-2012
Hello Snake River Karters,
It was a fun and successful weekend. I enjoyed my race and for that matter watching all of the other classes. There was some great competition that made for great viewing. We made it through all of the Jr1 restrictor issues (for now..lol). Thank you to Roger Cathy for getting us through tech and for that matter getting some of our (mine) engines race ready last minute! Couldn't have done it with out you! I would also like to thank all the other folks that helped us flag and officiate. During our race days be sure to thank those that put the time in to make it possible for us to have a race.
***Points***
Points and My Laps are posted, Jr2 missing points will be fixed soon...
****Pump House Needs Built****
I've not had the time to seak out any handy men (or women) and have not had any luck getting time to do it myself but I really need someone to take charge of getting a pump house built for the new well. It will need to be 6'x6'x6' only. Very simple with an access door to service the pump and minor insulation on the walls. Materials will be supplied, just need 4 walls and a roof built. If you can help please contact me and I'll get you the additional info. Call Jeff at 629-6672 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
****Practice Packets****
We've had multiple issues with practice packets the past few months and we need them addressed by those practicing as soon as possible. If we don't resolve the issues using our current format that's worked in the past we'll have to cut off the free run of the packets all together and have organized practices a few times per month. Here is what needs to be cleaned up.
1. Non-member practice. If you are a non-member the fees to practice are $20.00 per person driving and $8.00 for anyone entering the pits. We were a bit loose on this at the beginning of the season assuming we would have memberships from individuals but currently we have non-members recorded paying $8.00 to practice. If you haven't purchased your membership for the 2012 racing season and you've paid $8.00 to practice this month you need to pay up your membership or pay the difference at the next club race. Members also get discounts for race day as well.
2. Money short in packets. We need to Make sure that when packets are handed in that the correct amount is in the packet. We were very short on some of our packets when compared to the names we had listed. This isn't just non-member payments, it's just not paying. Don't leave our members with packets responsible for the missing money. It's just not cool at all. We have some major shortages happening.
3.Money overages? I like to see donations going in but that isn't what this is. We have people paying and not filling out paperwork. We have to make sure that we record everyone in the pits during a live track of any kind. Extra money is good but not at the expense of having people in the pits that aren't covered under the protection of our insurance.
It may seem that I'm being pushy when it comes to the paperwork, but as a track official I along with the club can be held responsible for problems at the track. Thanks for helping me out with this!
***Trash***
As I left the track Sunday, I noticed a fair amount of trash around the pits. I must say I was very disappointed. I need everyone to remember that it's not my track, it's not a retail business....it's our track and we need to be good neighbors. Please take time to police areas close to where your pitting.
***Awards***
I know that we have folks that have to leave due to matters they cant change or have a long drive home but we had a small turn out during our awards Sunday by recipients and fellow competitors alike. If you receive a podium finish please try to stay for awards. It's the sportsman like thing to do!
Thanks again everyone for coming out last weekend! Next race is coming on May 20th and good luck to those going to Tri-cities on the 27th thru 29th for the first gold cup of the year!

March 28th
Race number one is fast approaching! Here is a few things
that are happening.
Hello Snake River Karters
March 31st and April 1st was a fun weekend with a hold out in the weather. New and returning racers had a chance to shake off the cob webs and get back in the seat. Thanks to all who came out to help Saturday and Sunday!
TIRES TIRES TIRES / PROCEEDS GO BACK TO THE CLUB!
Larry Robb has had some sales on tires and we have a few sets left. We need to get an order in for more but we aren't sure who's going to be ordering and we don't want to have to many left overs. Please contact Larry as soon as possible so we can have all the tires we need here by the 15th race. Don't forget, proceeds go back to your track! See the SRK main page for ordering details and feel free to contact me. Orders need to go in by April 5th.
Water
Lastly, we have our water back on. We need to build a new very small shed around the new pump and preasure tank system. If you can help take this on and get it built contact me and I'll get you details. Abbie Marshal at Sky Dive Idaho has done a tremendous amount of work to get the water going again and Tom Foster put up most of the funds so if we can help with 4 walls and a roof it would be great.
Yell if you have any questions.

MID MARCH NEWS
IT'S ALMOST TIME TO GO RACING!
MEMBERSHIPS...need to get those in as soon as possible. We can except them during our track and practice weekend on the 31st but we need to get membership cards done as well. We can take membership applications during the swap meet this Sunday.
The following Sunday the 1ST will be our race format Test & Tune. It will be just like a race day but it gives everyone racing and the track officials to run through the program to make sure everything is up and running. It will be regular club entry fees for Sundays race but we can combine the Saturday practice with Sunday fees as a weekend event. In other words, your practicing for free on Saturday if your Sunday race fees are paid!
JR1 CLASS...there has been some issues with the changes in JR1 restrictors this year within the IKF. Please hold off on purchasing your restrictors until we have final confirmation on a final decision. Any restrictor will work for the our Test & tune and if a decision hasn't been made we will go with the restrictor from last year but you must run a restrictor. The club has 10 additional available for our first club race on April 15th.
IDAHO RACING NEWS...I have been in contact with Idaho Racing News and I would like to see if we have a writer in the club to create articles that will go in the news paper. Mostly articles pertaining to finishing positions and race recaps. If your interested please call me for details.
NORTHWEST MOTORFEST...we're in! I talked with Jack at the Roadster Show and we'll hold another exhibition race this year. If your not going to nationals try to make it. We had a great time last year. Big Jack has us featured on his web site at rpmprod.com. I have to get him to change some facts but check it out any way. Pics from last year are posted as well. Email me if your interested.

Safety Barriers
Last Updated on Sunday, 11 March 2012 11:01 Written by Jeff Shawver Monday, 20 February 2012 00:29
Safety Barriers
Snake River Karters always has safety at the top of the list with everything we do. Recently we have invested in tooling with a local company called Custom Roto Mold to make our own barriers. We have our own mold being made right now and we'll have new barriers at the track prior to the 2012 season.
With this investment by the club, we would ask that if you would like to donate funds to offset the cost of the barriers please do so. We're looking at ways of putting names on the barriers that you help to purchase. We don't yet have an exact cost per barrier right now but we will have that for you soon.
Business Advertising for Barriers and track improvements. SRK is now has an advertising program for businesses. Proceeds are going to the purchase of our barriers and in the future will go to track improvements. Please help us improve our track this year and in the future.
